The BTD is a Level 7 teacher training/continuous professional development course endorsed by Training Qualifications UK (TQUK) and developed in partnership by Cardiff and Vale College (CAVC) and Dragonfly Training. The course consists of 12 modules and is focused on optimising practitioner confidence and performance in learning and teaching delivery settings.
-
TQUK is an Ofqual regulated awarding organisation based in England, offering a wide range of vocational qualifications and endorsed courses. CAVC has been approved as a recognised centre of TQUK.
-
The BTD has been developed primarily to provide recognised CPD opportunities for teachers, lecturers and related practitioners working in a range of International settings. We feel that there is a gap in this type of affordable provision in many parts of the world and this course will make a contribution to strengthening pedagogy, upskilling/re-skilling professional educators and ultimately enhancing learner outcomes. Specifically, the BTD is about facilitating consistent ‘mastering’ in the structure and flow of effective learning sessions for immediate classroom application.
-
The BTD is designed to appeal across the board in the teaching profession from new, unqualified teachers looking to develop their confidence, to experienced, qualified teachers interested in refreshing their skills and engaging with new cutting edge pedagogy and theoretical advances. The course can also be tailored to be delivered to teaching assistants who are becoming increasingly important in supporting front line education.
-
The entry requirements for eligibility are that an applicant works in an educational setting overseas (e.g., School, College, University), has a relevant Level 6 qualification, an IELTS of at least 5.5, and teaches primarily through the medium of English.
-
We are confident that the BTD will help successful participants in a number of important ways – the course will look great on your CV/resume and you will be able to use it for any recognition of prior learning (RPL) claim if you apply to do related programmes at a higher level. This will help strengthen your promotion and career prospects, enable you to develop good contacts and enhance your delivery and pedagogic skills.
-
From an Institutional perspective, if several of your staff embark on this course, we firmly believe that it will lead to an improvement in student outcomes and consequently over time an uptick in the academic reputation of the School or College in local and regional settings. Find out more HERE
-
Yes, please see 6 above. In the absence of recognized qualifications, a large proportion of teachers may face difficulties securing new positions even though they might have the necessary knowledge and skills. Teachers who successfully pass the programme can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for advanced standing if they decide to continue their formal pedagogic training. The RPL process can help these individuals use the BTD credit to acquire a formal qualification that matches their knowledge and skills, and thereby contribute to improving their employability, aspirations, mobility, lifelong learning, and self-esteem.
-
The BTD is set at Level 7 of the TQUK Level indicators in terms of its degree of difficulty and intellectual demand. This is an equivalent level to a masters level in the UK. We feel this level maximises accessibility of the Course for teaching staff around the world who may not have had the opportunity to undertake a PGCE or similar qualification.
-
The BTD is delivered by highly experienced Dragonfly teacher trainer specialists who have delivered CPD courses to educationalists around the world. They are among the best in the business and will be on hand to guide you every step of the way.
-
Course is nominally equivalent to vocational framework 39 Credits and therefore the total learning package is set at 390 hours of which 78 hours is direct contact with the tutors. You can go as fast or as slow as you want and work the Course around your other commitments and busy lifestyle.
-
The course can be delivered in a range of flexible formats but we anticipate that online/blended provision will be the main format that the market demands. However we can come to you overseas or you can come to us and we can deliver the entire programme in a much more concentrated format if that suits your needs. We will work closely with clients to work out the best option. Most importantly the BTD is a highly interactive, highly practical Course which will fully immerse the participant in their own learning process. We have designed it to be enjoyable as well as utilitarian.
-
No need to worry. You will be given an opportunity to resubmit the work and address the feedback provided to get the work up to the required level. Our tutors will work with you to examine formative drafts and provide feedforward opportunities so we can minimise the number of participants who slip up at the first attempt.
-
Our passion is to raise the profile of CPD across the profession and across the globe. We will work tirelessly with you to ensure you feel properly supported by our staff and by the process. You will have an induction to the Course and we will be available during specified surgery hours to address any concerns you may have both pastoral and academic.
-
You can but we would suggest that taking the Course as an entire package is preferable as the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. However, our commitment is to be as receptive to your particular needs as possible and we are happy to deliver flexibly. It will mean that you will get CAVC/Dragonfly certificate for any occasional module studied, whereas, if you complete the L7 Diploma, certification is provided by TQUK, the Awarding Body
-
Yes, you will receive a British Teaching Diploma Certificate from CAVC and TQUK. See 15 above.
